ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Shela.

I’ve loved chocolate my whole life and am the blogger behind this chocolate blog.

Having lived in both Indonesia and the United States, I’ve tasted a wide array of chocolates from many different countries and at many different price points. I am currently on the quest of tasting the best chocolates in the world!

I created this chocolate blog to document and share my honest and unbiased reviews to help all you chocolate lovers out there find the best chocolate and make informed purchases based on your preferences.

Come along on my journey to find the best chocolates in the world!

With this chocolate blog, I will help you:

Discover new ethical and delicious chocolate brands
Learn which chocolate makers to avoid
Find the perfect gift for the chocoholic in your life
Get the absolute best deals on craft chocolate

Get chocolate reviews straight to your inbox and buy better, more ethical chocolates.

"I have nature and art and chocolate, if that is not enough, what is enough?"

More about Shela

  • I enjoy craft milk chocolate the most and will review milk chocolate in Shela’s Chocolate Diary more than dark chocolate, white chocolate or ruby chocolate. (I have a huge sweet tooth)
  • My retirement plan is to one day run a small chocolate store that sells the best chocolates from all over the world.
  • When not tasting, photographing, and reviewing chocolate for Shela’s Chocolate Diary, I enjoy kayaking the gorgeous lakes of Minnesota, experimenting with art, baking (usually chocolate) cakes, and traveling the world. (12 countries and counting, woo-hoo!)

Ethics in the cocoa industry

Slavery and child labor have been rampant throughout the history of cocoa and unfortunately still persist today. It would be remiss to review chocolate without acknowledging the dark sides of the cocoa industry. To bring light to this topic, I have put “ethics” as one of my scoring criteria when reviewing chocolate.  In this blog, I will highlight ethical chocolate makers, and call out unethical chocolate makers.

Disclaimer

My reviews are from the point of view of the average consumer (who’s eaten a lot of chocolate). They are subjective in nature and it is okay for you to have a different opinion. It’s chocolate, let’s not take it too seriously! All opinions here are my own. There are no sponsored posts. However, I am part of Amazon Affiliate and so some of the links might be affiliate links. I will update the disclaimer if this changes.
